A backpack, two outfits and no reservations is a very fun and interesting way to island-hop around Greece. Samos was my first island, the birthplace of Pythagoras.

Here's Ronnie looking for a good beach.

Found it!

This is a cafe... typically Greek.

This is also typically Greek.

This is very typically Greek... shrines along the roadside.

We found this year-round nativity in the woods. Monks from a nearby monastery built it.

They used old cans to hold plastic flowers and strung lights without electricity. It looked like the work of children. It's one of our all-time favorite discoveries.

This is one of our favorite restaurants in the world... in the middle of nowhere, hanging off the side of a mountain. We had a local Greek salad - cucumbers, tomatoes, feta and oil. I've never tasted one better.

This is one of our favorite churches in Greece... in the village of Kokkari.

It's where we found this painting, tucked away anonymously in the shadows.

That's Kokkari in the background, with the church on the left.

This is the Temple of Apollo, also known as the Church of Ariadne, on the island of Naxos. With 5,000 years of history, there are lots of ancient ruins.

Taking a break in a cafe.

This is Katapoliani, on Paros. It's one of the earliest churches in Greece, built by St. Helen in 300AD, with the original baptistery still in tact.

Gotta cool off where you can.

Another of our favorite restaurants in the world.

I love Greece.

Onboard the ferry... heading back to the airport in Athens.
