This parish rotunda is affectionately called Mosta Dome. In April 1942, during a service with more than 300 people attending, an enemy bomb dropped through the domed ceiling but did not explode. The shell still lies there on the floor of the church, for everyone to see. |

So the people of Mosta regularly celebrate the Madonna who they believe saved them on that day. |
