The island of Texel (pronounced Tessel) is all about biking and walking in nature. Here we are on bikes behind the dunes, which Holland leaves natural for miles inland.

A typical house in the dunes - which we'd like to have!

Biking on a dike.

Stopping to mingle with the critters.

Back on the path.

Stopping to buy local. Honey and eggs at this one - you just leave the money in the cup.

Entering a village.

Stopping for asparagus soup in this little café.

Typical houses.

Can't get more Dutch: houses, a windmill and sheep behind the dike.

Back to the coastline.

The North Sea.

Hey, Ronnie.

Back on the bikes. The wind is so strong, Ron wants to use the umbrellas as sails.

Having a little trouble at first.

Stopping to repair the umbrella.

Now it's working! Wait for me!

This is NOT easy! I'm also managing the camera.

This is the nesting area of spoonbills that have migrated from Africa.

Here they come.

So cool!

These are friends we made at our bungalow.

Back to the beach for ice cream and the sunset.

Another great trip. (I'm still managing the camera, doing the long-arm shot.)

it's good to go HOME
