Here we're leaving Zeist, which was the hardest part of the trip – getting out of the backyard – because we had made a hotel reservation 35 miles away, and we really didn't know if we could make it.

Along the way, we saw lots of people who do this regularly and have water-proof long-haul saddlebags hanging off both sides of each wheel. Ha! We just used our everyday grocery-shopping saddlebags and covered them with a big plastic bag.

And we're off!

Uh-oh... we're already lost.

Wait for me!

We are lost, aren't we?

Critters on the path.

Ginkel Heath was the scene of fierce fighting where 2,000 Scots and Brits parachuted in. Their goal was to march on the Rhine bridge at Arnhem.

Back on the path.

That little machine in the yard is a lawn mower. It cuts the lawn by itself, by turning whenever it bumps into something. The grass is short, so it apparently works.

We never know what we'll see.

We've sighted deer in the woods.

There are three babies in this photo, which the Dutch call "Bambis."

We waited out a lot of rainstorms under trees. We're getting pretty tired here.

But we had fun every minute.

And in the end, we biked 85 miles in three days. We had such a good time that we're considering biking around the Ijsselmeer, which is only 250 miles. Ha! Just teasing!

it's good to go HOME
