This is the Collse
watermill, just outside of Nuenen.
This is Vincent's
painting of the mill from 1884.
This is the Roosdonck
windmill, which Vincent painted many times.
The windmill shows
up in this drawing of the house where the De Groot family
lived. They were the ones depicted in The Potato Eaters,
and Vincent made the initial sketches of the family in this
thatched-roof house.

This is the church
where Vincent's father preached from August 1882 until his
death in March 1885.
Vincent painted
the church as a gift to his mother.
This is the parsonage
and the home of Vincent's parents. He lived here during his
two years in Nuenen, and he used the small shed on the right
as a studio.
He made many paintings
of the home.
They say that Vincent
would wander the countryside on his own with all his drawing
and painting materials under his arm. His paintings from this
period demonstrate his fascination with Nuenen's landscapes
and its working class of people.
