Here's the mom and babies off our deck.

Meanwhile, the dad is renegotiating territorial boundaries (something swans seem to do a lot of) with the second swan in this photo. They are swimming side-by-side, with their wings tensed, until one backs down and the other can claim the bigger chunk of the river.

Meanwhile, Ron is feeding the mom and babies.

 

They look so sweet, but they are ferociously protective. They demand to be fed, but hiss at us when we do it!

 

The excitement is over for now... the dad won the battle for this part of the canal. There he goes, flying to join his family, while the other male is now staying out in the fields. (I was rooting for the loner, so I'm a little sad.)
